Awesome post GZ!!! These days if you're against affirmative action, unrestrained welfare or any other left wing brain storm you're either just mean spirited or a racist. I believe the opposite is true, the excessive nature of these programs have formed a culture of dependency that promotes complacency and keeps an entire section of America from realizing their full potential. (poor whites included). I've always suspected this is an ideal situation for many liberal Democrats who can continue to buy votes by handing out table scraps and at the same time not have to worry about "those people" showing up at the local country club or Cape Cod compound as the case may be.
