Target Corp. sales fall short of analysts' projection

Associated Press
Thursday, June 7, 2001

Target Corp.'s May same-store sales rose 0.9 percent, short of analysts' projection of a 1.6 percent increase, as sales for the month "were slightly below plan."

In a press release today, the Minneapolis retailer said total retail sales for the four weeks ended June 2 rose 6.9 percent to $2.68 billion from $2.51 billion a year ago.

A survey of 14 analysts from Thomson Financial/First Call produced the same-store sales estimate.
