Then what happened to nexgen 586 chip? From what I remember reading about it it was much better than amd's design. I believe it was even outperforming intel at that time(I might be wrong on that). If that is true then why amd is still using their own design? If I remember corectly IBM was building nexgen 586's for nexgen. Does that mean that currentlty amd is not able to manufacture nexgen type chips. If that is the case does anyone knows how bigger deal is it update amd's fabs. I am an amd stock holder and think (hope) this company will make some money but something does not add up with nexgen.
