Moving on to the "then what" question. It is far more of a challenge to commit than to avoid. It is much more nobler to take a stand against and to to act in the face of the abominable than to withdraw. Society has withdrawn from the dealing with the heinous crimes and simply continues to throw money at a broken system hoping to stave off our responsibility long enough to be able to hand it over to our children. Our parents handed it to us when society was more founded in guiding principle and communities held a tighter reign on deviant and objectionable acts. Now we are screaming about who the prison system is moving back into our neighborhoods. I don't want to hand this over to my daughters to deal with in a few years when I am out of it and the problems have moved to what ever the next level of misery is. I believe it was you who said we shouldn't just leave things up to the government. I concur.
