Engineer: This criticism of data throughput is an annoyance. If people don't like it because it's not perfect, wait until they see GPRS products. Let's see how much people like GPRS phones. <g>

I don't think that PCS is going to drop the whole roadmap to 3G because they can't maintain ONE data rate to all users at all times. <g> Apart from the R & D at this point, however, there is a frustration that no commercial resources have been released in the US for 3G CDMA. Think about people waiting around for WCDMA in 2004 - they are going to go beserk!! The lack of commercial visibility in the US is beginning to change rapidly. As PCS and VZ become the first 2 CDMA companies in the US with approved 3G networks by the end of the year, the non chalant attitude toward wireless data is going to change dramatically.

People need to understand that CDMA/GPS solutions will completely change the level of expectations for communications & information services.

Like it or not, here it comes!! We are at the crossroad where FUD no longer matters because the 3G upgrades are going to take place - once and for all. CDMA, TDMA, GSM, iDEN, CPQ laptops, pda's, WingCast - all the stars are beginning to line up for the delivery of the Internet to any moving person or device. Even the pc industry is starting to take notice now that 3G CDMA wireless LAN's will be a prerequisite for corporate networks.
