Doc:

Take it easy. Do not be so harsh toward California. $3 B is still much smaller than $87 B (out of 145 B) awarded by the guys living in Florida.

Seriously, yesterday's losing verdict is the third one for Big MO in California. The bad thing is that a little award here and a bit award there will encourage more law suits being filed and thus increase the chance of further loss in court. On the bright and hopeful side, the previous two cases are being appealed and are in state appeal courts. In addition, the state Supreme Court is expected to decide this year whether these kinds of individual cases can proceed at all under California law.

We all know that big MO is cheap for a reason. When things do not go well, think about the bright side. The present environment is much more friendly to MO than that of a year ago. However, when things are going too well, one should think about taking some money off the table because one just does not know when and where the surprise will come.
