Would Iverson be as good with a 12-14 ft. hoop to play against? I'm not so sure.

i think the higher the hoop is, the more shooting accuracy becomes important. so the more accurate shooters should do relatively better--although they would probably not be as accurate as they currently are with a 10-ft rim. (just as accurate shooters do better at 3-pt shots than inaccurate shooters, even though 40% is considered a good percentage for 3-pointers.) therein lies the real problem: game scores would be lower, perhaps much lower. i think this would make the game less telegenic, so i doubt the marketing experts would support the plan. the paternalistic marketing idea seems to be that high-scoring games are "exciting", so anything that reduces the score is "bad". but i think what makes the games most exciting is to see high levels of skill in close combat. watching giants leap 6 inches off the ground to dunk the ball 15 times in a row is not my idea of skill.
