| Actually, I think we have created an untenable situation. We are telling them that in all but this respect they are adults, and, in addition, penalizing the whole category of persons in that age range for the delinquency of a few. There are plenty of college towns where no one would get in a car after drinking, because the restaurants and bars are built so close, or the parties are on campus. Additionally, we mix 18 year olds with 21 and 22 year olds, and, in some cases grad students, so they will always get a brewski when they want at a party. For those who don't go to college, many of them are in serious jobs and beginning families when they are 19 or 20, and we are saying you can have all that responsibility but not park a six pack in the fridge. Sorry, crack down on drunk driving, fine, but stop insuring that the majority of 18 to 21 year olds will break the law....... |
