But most people would say that Intel is either ahead of AMD in moving to .13, or they aren't - and that you only get to pick one.

Dan, do you know anything about semiconductor fabrication or do you make it up as you go along? I'm betting on the latter because you're clearly out of your element with your arguments.

Intel is 6 months ahead of AMD (at least) in moving to a 0.13 micron process.

To remain competitive AMD has pushed the gate lengths of their 0.18 micron process to the 0.13 micron level. Gate length shrinks are a common tool to incrementally improve the performance of a manufacturing process, but pushing it to the next node is pretty extreme. Gate length is only part of the process. The rest of AMD's process has not yet been scaled to the 0.13 micron node, even though they have eaten up a fair chunk of the speed benefit of moving the entire process to the 0.13 micron node in the process.

If you don't understand that, then please go take some classes on semiconductor fabrication and then come back.
