For those who haven't been following BEA Systems closely (and that includes me), you should at least be aware that a lot of the people who do follow it closely had been thinking that the last major software apps hold-out was Siebel. The ramification was that the risk of BEA becoming a gorilla was a lot less reduced once (if) Siebel chose to adopt the BEAS app server for its CRM software. Now that we see news of the partnership, in that light it is more important than the typical news of a new partnership. --Mike Buckley
