Vargas, frankly , I think this quote is full of the proverbial. This antiquated fire assay technique has changed very little since the Pharaohs got their gold from Ophir. If you accept flogesteron, I'll accept fire assays as the scientific standard.

A bunch of people have a turff to prtect and they do it fairly well. Gosh, show me two different fire assay techniques (with two different collectors and different fluxing agentts) that give the same assays.

When I was young and beautiful (oh! nostalgic days of past) I did some automation of gold polating baths and thus analysis of the plating solutions, if I were to use fire assays to determine gold in solution, I would be thrown on my buts out of the door, and that was more than 15 years ago. Fire assays are an anachronism and it is high time that technology advances on this front as well.
