caspian is made too much of. it will take years to get major production, and there are a lot of political squabbles going on which makes it more risky for western investment. now with high oil prices it will be developed, but it's not as big a factor as some would hope. anyway it's not going to change the fact that our reliance on the middle east is forecast to be near 50% in 5 years, up from 18% in 1985.
