- VOIP: Their phones are done, and they should begin to ship at any moment. They were talking about revenue per phone in the double dollar digits per unit, and minimum orders in the 100K unit range. From what I can tell, they have a reference design, and are licensing that design to other companies. They re-iterated that they expect revenue from this product to dwarf EZiText.
- They expect to start generating revenues from their Blue Tooth implementations in 2-4 quarters. They've lined up some big players, like Ericssons, to back the technology.
- Oz Time: More of the same; they're offering courses that cover products from Microsoft, HP, Oracle, etc. No word on getting partners, or spinning it off as a seperate company.
- Reiterated that it takes about 1 year for licensees to release products after signing a contract for EZiText. Most of the contracts were signed in the 3rd and 4th quarter of last year. They expect the number of phone implementations with EZiText to balloon. Currently there are 28.
- The EZiText unit is profitable. Currently their losses are in other units where they are investing to grow as a company.
- Openwave's next generation browsers all list EZiText as their preferred input solution.
- Talked about new product development (no specifics), and their confidence of being able to sell new products to their existing impressive customer list (now at 40 customers for EZiText. To a certain degree, they're already doing this as their customers for their blue tooth stuff are some of the same ones as for EZiText.
They talked a lot about instant messaging, and the need to create products that enhance the user's experience with products.
It was a good, positive, looking forward statement for the company. There was no bomb shell type announcement; just lots of good, reassuring talk of where the company is headed for in the future, and what we can expect them to do.
