'DAK, you are thinking in human terms. The biggest point about IT is that it will want to be for IT's own sake, not as a shopping catalogue for people buying electronic systems to play gutter rap. Humans are not the only things which have a sense of self. I can only surmise from this train of thought that you expect us to be supplanted as the (dominant) sentient life form on the planet ? Then accordingly we are unwittingly and directly constructing our own demise. The Coming Financial Financial Collapse of 2001 or 2002 etc.. would pale by comparison.
