The Sprint system is operative in Chicago, is getting a 30 mile range, and in news reports (see Chicago Tribune) is working well and has been a god-send to those many who do not have any wired broadband access. I should emphasize the fact that many areas of Chicago and suburbs are not wired. I have no Sprint stock, do hold wcom and wish they had been allowed to merge.
