There's this other problem with moderation, if you choose to start a moderated thread, and you aren't in line with the right wing political orthodoxy that dominates SI, you'll probably be hounded off the site one way or the other. Happened to the moderator of Member 8159458 , happened to Poet, probably others, but I don't follow it that closely. On the other hand, if you're in line with right wing orthodoxy, you can do all the stuff you're complaining about, and then say it's all a joke. Read the first few hundred posts of Subject 50545 to see how that works. I think it's all a joke, actually.
