That's a bit stretched... for Israel's economy itself is heavily dependent upon the European market. Actually the whole region was drawn into desolation since the Israeli-Arab conflict broke out. Lebanon was dubbed the "Switzerland of the Near East" and, as a reaction to Israel's military buildup, Arab countries have been forced to allocate more and more resources to their own military, hampering the development of a "civilian" economy.
However, Arab countries don't need the Jews to do business with the West, take Morocco for instance: despite the fact that its Jewish minority dropped from approx. 300,000 souls in the early 1960s to only 4,000 today, the Moroccan economy is doing well and eager to be more closely tied with Europe's.
