Andrew,
The name of "Calgon" represents two separate and independent groups, Calgon carbon corp.(CCC) and Calgon Corp. These two companies are just across street from each other.

CCC is a publicly traded company mainly sells carbon products. Calgon Corp. is still in private hands, mainly sells water treatment chemicals. Betz and Nalco are Calgon Corp.'s competitor not CCC's. Hope this helps.
