2:19pm 06/08/01 Wireless chips hurt, TriQuint falls (TQNT, RFMD, SMDI) By Chris Kraeuter
Wireless chips are being battered on Friday in conjunction with the rest of the semiconductor stocks. TriQuint Semiconductor (TQNT) is down 9.3 percent at $18.36, RF Micro Devices (RFMD) is down 6 percent at $28.67, and Wavecom (WVCM) is down 5 percent $33. "The Oregonian" is reporting TriQuint has laid off an unspecified number of employees at plants in Hillsboro, Ore. and Dallas. Elsewhere, Stanford Microdevices (SMDI) and RF Micro reached an agreement for RF to make Stanford Micro's radio frequency integrated circuits. The agreement does not entail the exchange of intellectual property or any co-branding of products between the two companies. Stanford Micro's shares are down 2.7 percent at $11.14. <<

Wonder if SMDI bottoms at 10.5 or sinks lower. Sure jumped all over today.
