1. Here's the internet page where you can read about products HOMS supplies to the real estate industry:
realtor.com
2. It is most definitely not true that large brokers or agents working for large brokers do not have to pay for HOMS services. Believe me, they pay. It's hard to say how much individual agents pay.....depends on what they buy, which add-ons they want, and a few other things. They can buy anything from a simple little web page to an entire custom-built website from HOMS, plus other stuff.
3. CD does not control "most Realtors." Not even close. CD brokerages (Coldwell Banker, ERA, etc) have a relatively small piece of the pie in many parts of the country. In the mid-Atlantic region, Long & Foster and Weichert command the biggest market share by far. There are many other huge independent brokerages and franchises around the country that have no connection with Cendant--how about ReMax, John Scott, Edina, Realty One, etc? And what about all the smaller brokerages that have anywhere from one to 25 offices in a particular area. The Realtor community is much bigger than Cendant. However, since Cendant has now joined the pack, the subscriber base of HOMS just doubled----radically changing the fundamentals of the company, potentially, over the next several months or years. |
