[SI Admin (Jeff)] said the posters are the ones responsible for their posts and any disclaimers.

If he said that then he is mistaken. First of all, many disclaimers are simply rhetoric that have absolutely no validity under the law. For instance, when a site recommends specific day trades and calls them "educational" or "not an offer to buy or sell any security," those disclaimers will be shot down and thrown out of court if the recommendations can be reasonably construed as a call to action. That means if a large number of site members view these rec's as specific buy/sell/short/cover alerts and act on them then the disclaimers are invalid.

A newspaper that publishes libelous statements made by one it interviews is liable for damages accruing from those remarks. IF SI has favored posters here in any way, and those posters have damaged SI Members in any material way, then SI is most certainly liable.

As for public figures such as CEO's or promoters, it would be illegal for SI to block discussion of them here. Those members here at SI who hold themselves out as public figures
forfeit their right to be left out of discussion.
