Ken You do seem to have something running in the background that is putting a severe strain on your resources. In addition to the suggestions offered you might open the Resource Meter tool(should be in System tools) Then bring up the Program Manager(Control+Alt+Delete)and start shutting down all programs you can run without one at a time checking with your Resource Meter each time to see what effect you are getting. Perhaps reading the Fred Langa articles that were posted previously today might also might be of use. Here is a link techweb.com Ed
