This is another side to the bartender's story. I do not know how experienced he or she was or if he or she was the owner of the business.

My husband's family has been a bar, restaurant, & nightclub owner since 1929. They served most of the yuppies in the area their first drink...legal or illegal. My husband bartended himself through much of those years to keep control of what was happening in the nightclub. The serving of miners is a huge problem as you get citations for serving them. If anything serious happens to a minor that gets drunk in your bar you will have bad press and points against your liquor license. It isn't easy to get a license and they cost well over 100,000k these days. You can lose that license if you are sloppy and get caught serving minors.

One night a substitute bartender served an illegal minor who took off with a guy and got raped. She was picked up by the police when she was spotted walking down a street with few clothes on.........poor thing. We got cited for serving a minor. If my husband had seen Jenna Bush with a fake ID in our bar during the next couple years he might have called 911 himself in panic over having such a high profile customer tryng to illegally drink . What is most important is keeping your business running....who wants to lose their investment? !!!! You can be closed down by the Board of Alcohol Control.
