Glad to hear things are better. Have you tried System File Checker to see if some system files are corrupt? I really don't know if this would possibly have any effect on resources but it's worth a shot. Go to Start/Run/ type in SFC and click ok. You'll need your installation cd if anything is found. The program will prompt you on what to do if anything bad is found. What did you end up with in your msconfig startup tab. Some other things could probably be removed giving you more resources to start with.
