My problem is that you are privy to critical evidence in this case and ignored my, yes, repeated, requests, for that document. I would prefer you sent a copy to me now, but I am quite serious that you shall eventually be served with papers forcing you to disclose its owner and any knowledge you have of its contents before the proper authorities if that is what it takes for the truth to come to light. Considering your nick here, I would think you would be happy to see it disclosed and made public. What is there to hide?

You said

How can you subpeona me for a record that isn't mine?

Actually, quite easily. When you informed me of this evidence of illegal activity, you became what in law is known as a material witness. Therefore, you will have to disclose this information whether you wish it or not. For my part, I think everyone here at SI would admire you greatly if you would take the unusual step of coming forward with this letter and making it public here. I would be the first to congratulate you on a wonderful step in the right direction for everyone in our field.

O.A.
