Reg, Re: The Netscape hoopla

I find it interesting that when IE had a bug that could let a nasty webmaster view files on a clients disk - the story focused on either nasty ActiveX or some weird belief Microsoft put the bug in the browser to examine files on users disks. For Netscape's bug, the focus is on the guy that found it and the fact he wanted some cash. The double standard is quite illuminating of public and press perception of the two companies, yet neither are very accurate at characterizing the problem.

Basically all software has bugs, it's a sad fact of life, but fortunately both companies responded as rapidly as possible. Of course it's always open hunting season in the PR biz when carp like this hits the wires.

So the beat goes on, have you tried the new Communicator?
Since my PC's in a box in the hold of a ship for the next two months, guess I'll download Communicator and put it on tape, so I don't have to deal with a modem download - one last time.
