Now that I think about it, maybe 40 yrs passing had more to do with the changed view than the boat ride. I shouldn't admit this, but what the hell. I dropped my son off at Andrews one day and had his car to myself for the day. I had been assigned to Andrews for exactly two years and lived on base most of that time. Unfortunately, the only things that hadn't changed were the runways and the control tower. Naturally, I got lost and couldn't find my way off base. Thank God I had a little gray hair and could feign senility (I think it was feigned...hmmm?). I had to stop and ask for directions and everyone was so very helpful. I think they were really in a hurry to get me off the base before I hurt some gov't property. :)
