Darrell/All:

Iomega is wise to stay away from China for the time being. Not only for the reasons you mentioned, but also because the economy simply hasn't reached a sufficient level of afffluence. Iomega's strategy has been to make Zip (for example) a high-profile consumer product, which then puts pressure on manufacturers to put it in commercial SKU's. China is just entering the "waldmart" phase in its economic development -- i.e. just getting ready for mass-consumer goods. So it makes sense that McDonalds, Kmart (and waldmart) are scrambling for a foothold

No offense, but for most of china, "High Tech" means indoor plumbing. . When the Chinese are ready for home PCs, Iomega will certainly be there.

By the way, Japan's economy is much larger than China's - which (I beleive) is why Iomega is wise to focus on this market.
