XIOtech Expands High-Availability Options for SAN Customers by Offering QLogic Management Suite (QMS)
QMS Extends XIOtech's REDI Path Software Capabilities to Switched Fabric Environments
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., June 11 /PRNewswire/ -- XIOtech® Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Seagate and a Storage Area Network (SAN) pioneer, today announced that it will begin to offer its SAN customers the QLogic Host Bust Adapter (HBA) High-Availability software package, which is part of the QLogic Management Suite (QMS). This QMS module extends the capabilities found in XIOtech's existing REDI Path software to now provide redundant connections and automatic failover in today's widely adopted switched fabric environments.

A long-standing partner of QLogic, XIOtech already resells QLogic SANblade Fibre Channel HBAs. Now, XIOtech will offer QLogic's HBA High-Availability module to its SAN customers who want to maximize data, system and application availability in Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Novell NetWare environments. QLogic SANblade Fibre Channel HBAs are powerful solutions designed with features that are critical to real-world applications, offering best-in-class performance and functionality for SANs. A considerable number of XIOtech's MAGNITUDE(TM) hardware platform customers have chosen QLogic HBAs for their SAN configuration.

``Today, even the smallest installations expect their data to be available 100 percent of the time,'' said Richard Blaschke, executive vice president of marketing for XIOtech. ``Our MAGNITUDE hardware platform incorporates redundant and hot-swappable components, and many tasks can be done on-the-fly such as adding servers, reconfiguring RAID sets and reassigning storage volumes. Yet, we are constantly seeking out opportunities that will help our customers to not just reduce, but eliminate both planned and unplanned downtime. By partnering once again with QLogic, we can provide yet another high-availability option to our customers.''

``Our HBA High-Availability package ensures data and system availability by assigning alternate pathing and automatic adapter failover in the SAN,'' said Frank Berry, vice president, QLogic Computer Systems Group. ``We are pleased that XIOtech recognizes the value of this package and has chosen to offer it to their customers. Our alliance with XIOtech is just one way in which we are working to help deliver total solutions for the SAN environment.''

Customers selecting the MAGNITUDE hardware platform with multiple QLogic HBAs, REDI Path software and the QLogic HBA High-Availability option will be able to establish dual connections to as many as 192 heterogeneous servers with access up to 11.5 terabytes of storage. In the event of a failure in one HBA connection, data transfers will automatically be routed to another HBA, ensuring uptime of a customer's SAN.

As part of XIOtech's Enterprise Solutions Program, the HBA High-Availability package has been fully tested for interoperability and approved for use with the MAGNITUDE system in XIOtech's Enterprise Solutions Lab. As with other joint solutions, XIOtech offers a guide containing step-by-step instructions on the installation and use of the QMS High-Availability package so that customers can take full advantage of its features. XIOtech's technical specialists have also undergone training to support the new product.

REDI Path software is available today at U.S. List $4,000.00. The QLogic High-Availability module option is available immediately at U.S. List $500.00 per server.
