I can empathize when you say "there are great companies out there starting on growth paths like Ascend's." I have invested in companies like these. But I suspect only a few make it to the top. Like you say, they look great when they start out, and they may even look great six to twelve months later. Often though, their management screws up. The management may become greedy and then you have a lot of insider selling. Or the management makes a mistake. Since I am a conservative investor, I prefer to invest in those companies that have demonstrated that they can compete in the marketplace. Still, I have a softplace for the new companies that have interesting products. Have a Happy 4th of July!
