The quote has appeared in other "mainstream" news media including the LA Times.

IMO, when Governor Gray Davis began threatening "confiscation" of electrical producers a few months back he crossed the line and plunged pell-mell into the dark realms of an anti-constitutional, socialistic wonderland.

If the California AG really said what is reported, he should be stripped of his office and disbarred, whilst Mr. Davis should be impeached. But that would only happen in a country (or state) where individuals had true freedoms and liberties and the individual was considered supreme to the State, which is not the case anymore in these United States of America.
