OT -- Here are a few observations. First, as a matter of fact, the freedom of the press applies only to those who own a press. Second, as a matter of opinion, giving nonhuman entities rights equal to humans is a great mistake. This is because whereas (for the most part) we have biological and psychological safegaurds against doing too much wrong, corporations and other entities lack conscience.

The object of a corporation is to make as much money as it can and to grab as much market share as it can regardless of what the consequences of those actions are on others. Try to imagine what the society would have been like if each of us was told that he will live forever so long as he can get rid of anyone who opposes him. A world in which we had no other concern but greed and empire building. That world would have been a living hell.

Humanity has survived its darkest moments because the inherent good that is inside each of us eventually puts a stop to our extremes. But can you think of a moral center for a corporation? I am not so naive as to say corporations should be destroyed or that they serve no good purpose. What I am saying is that to give them the same rights as people is stupid. An ideological entity does not have the same limitations, motives, or capabilities as a living, breathing, breeding person. Therefore it should not be given the same rights either.
