Sun has done little to really integrate their patchwork tools solution from their acquisitions into iPlanet.

I have difficulty understanding this statement. The iPlanet tools are highly integrated and make a very attractive matrix. The one missing piece has
been the no holds barred J2EE development tool, but FJEE will provide that. Moreover, the Forte TOOL product now also has extensive features
for Java integration.

Sorry for the vague statement, I was referring to the J2EE development tool. I haven't read up on FJEE yet, I'll look into it.

You sound very informed on Sun's app server technology, perhaps I can get your opinion on Sun's app server strategy. I'm under the impression that Sun is using iPlanet to sell their hardware/OS and consulting/solutions. Is that a fair assessment? This seems to be an advantage over BEA, as they don't have a hardware platform to push. Along the same lines, how does Linux/Intel change that sales model?
