What are you talking about plating? Sure there will be tinning type operations using the new alloy silver solder just as there are tinning operations today using Pb based solder. What they are saying is that every single solder joint in every single bit of electronics in Europe will be of a Pb alloy free soon. The first alloys have been apporved. (I believe)All the approved solder alloys contain some percentage of silver.
