Did you catch this interesting little tidbit from Dr. Tom last week, Carl?

We were rather concerned when we stumbled across this comment from the
land of the foot and mouth disease: "Because, as we remember writing
before, Rambus is to the Pentium 4 what musk is to perfume, the sturgeon is
to fish, the head is to the limbs and as a king is to men." Unfortunately, we
cannot confirm this claim and wonder on which kind of test data the author
bases his fishy pro-royal comments. We expect that Pentium 4 will run rather
nicely on DDR-i845 and would also like to remind you that Intel has got a
semi-nForce chipset up its sleeve that sports a dual-channel DDR-memory
solution for Pentium 4.

The latter brings us to another interesting story we happened to overhear. It
seems as if Nvidia was very well willing to produce an nForce-version for
Pentium 4. It even appears as if the Pentium 4 nForce actually exists as
physical sample. When Nvidia recently knocked at Intel's door, however, it
was shortly after slammed right in its face. There is no doubt about the fact
that Intel DOES NOT WANT nForce for Pentium 4 right now. Please make
your own rhyme out of that one.

Intel's studied disinterest in nForce has been widely reported. The ready-to-run-DDR-ness of the i845 has also been widely reported. Not much has been heard of the ATI/Intel axis of late, though. Heard any scuttlebutt?
