Hughes Electronics (GMH) 22.60 -0.50: -- Update -- Conference call to discuss revised guidance at 5:15 ET: 913-981-5517 code: 692005. After hours trading vs close: GMH -1, DISH -0.8.

Hughes Electronics (GMH) 22.60 -0.50: -- Update -- On conference call, says the longer than expected time it is taking to complete a transaction for GMH has negatively impacted operations as it "has been a major distraction"... says that GM and Hughes remain in detailed negotiations with News Corp., but that company remains open to alternative proposals (only thing it will say on this matter at this time)... GMH -1.15

Hughes Electronics (GMH) 22.60 -0.50: -- Update -- Says that it is targeting an average subscriber acquisition cost (SAC) of $550 by end of year; notes that it continues to see an increase in percentage of customers adding second and third boxes to existing accounts (while acquisition costs for these customers is higher, they churn less)... GMH -1.15
Hughes Electronics (GMH) 22.60 -0.50: -- Update -- DIRECTV Latin America targeting EBITDA breakeven in first half of 2002; head of that business notes that churn has declined dramatically in last two months due to new screening measures that includes credit checks, adding incentives for the use of credit cards for upfront payments, and incentives for retail distributors to reduce churn (60% of churn had occurred among customers who were subscribers for less than one year)... GMH -1.15

Hughes Electronics (GMH) 22.60 -0.50: -- Update -- Earlier today, EchoStar's DISH Network (DISH) indicated that it added approximately 460K net new customers in Q1... when asked on call why DISH seems to be outperforming GMH in adding subscribers, GMH said it really has to do with GMH's retail distribution model... sluggish performance at Circuit City (CC) and RadioShack (RSH) weighed on results.. key to improvement is helping GMH's national retailers understand its advertising campaign better... worth noting that Blockbuster (BBI) is another national retailer of DIRECTV... GMH -0.95; DISH -1.12
