Any good capitalist is in business for one thing: to make money. They are not in business to be politically correct, to kowtow to the government, to be socially conscious, or to do anything but produce a good or service, market it as effectively as possible to increase demand, and charge whatever the market will bear.

Californians want conservation of resources? What better way to conserve energy than to have sky-high prices?

Al Gore wanted to double and quadruple energy costs (including gasoline prices) if he had become President. A lot of people tend to forget that. Why is it alright for the government to be a real "robber baron" while private producers are labelled as making "obscene profits"?
