Perhaps you were, and I misunderstood you.

I still believe I disagree however, the nature of most religions is a deep seated tolerance, acceptance and love of other people. Sure it can be abused, but it mostly acts as a brake to prevent abuse from happening.

Without a moral guidepost, societies tend to fracture and create climates of dangerous rigid intolerance, where God becomes the all powerful central government power structure.
