The expert in this case happens to be a PhD in Mechanical Engineering who has a great deal of experience in rapid-prototyping.

3-D Systems and Stratasys are definitely the leaders at this point. There are several other companies - BTM, Cubital, etc. which are not too far behind. I think there are over 10 companies that are not complete pushovers. 3-D Systems financials are more stable compared to Stratasys, so far.

Soligen is not very successful, but with growing revenue. Founded by an ex- 3-D systems VP. It is a penny stock.

Helisys is relatively cheap at this point. And so far it is still showing some profit. Next quarter could be really bad.
