It's not only the oil and gas trusts that do it. Quite a few will do it. I try to buy them right after they are announced or I will ask them before I buy, if they are planning to raise more money thru dilution.
But if the price of oil stays up, you will make back your money in a matter of months. Some of these trusts are paying over 25% per annum.
Also, not to defend them for it, but they do have to buy more properties in order to keep up their payments and since they give most of their money out , they must pay for it by issuing new units.
