The problem if you ban or suspend me is not whether I will then cloak myself in martyrdom. I am not that type. Neocon accurately points up the chief problem: You will be turning over the board to exclusionists like McGowan, who is bitter because he has been suspended from left-wing boards and absolutely cannot stomach my posting here.
No, JLA, the real danger is whether you wish to turn this thread into a lightweight/chit-chat/right-wing-only society, with every other post saying: "LOL. You're right on that one, pal!"
I would also point out that divorce is a two-way street. I will not continue to post here if you continue to appease the McGowans of the world by placing a sword over my head while at the same time recognizing the fact that I do try to stimulate conversation, as I did today, by posting thoughtful analysis from European newspapers concerning D-Dubya-I's visit to Europe.
So you're at a crossroads, Mr. Threadmeister. On one hand you can appease the exclusionist element on this board and permanently banish me ... but then the board will turn into just another 9 a.m. Rush Limbaugh coffee club at the Peoria McDonald's. On the other hand, if you do allow me to post here, no doubt I will continue to antagonize a segment of this board with my honesty, candor and truthfulness.
I think your solution to the problem is to continue to threaten me in hopes that I will lighten up. But that's not going to happen.
It will be interesting to see which fork in the road you choose. If I were in your shoes, I would invite other middle-of-the-road (like myself) voices to this board to stimulate discussion, while at the same time, telling some on the far right to start pulling their weight ... or else.
We shall see the scope of your Solomon-like wisdom in how you handle this one. |
