McCartney, Simon come together for charity event

Two of the world's most talented songwriters, Paul McCartney and Paul
Simon, will perform together for the very first time at the first
annual Adopt-A-Minefield Benefit Dinner, Thursday at the Regent
Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles. McCartney and Simon will each
play several songs solo, as well as several songs together. "Tonight
Show" host Jay Leno will serve as master of ceremonies and director
Steven Spielberg will sit on the dinner committee for the event. The
benefit is to raise funds for Adopt-A-Minefield's global campaign,
for which McCartney and girlfriend Heather Mills serve as goodwill

McCartney to hold first-ever U.S. book signing

Paul McCartney will sign copies of his new book of poetry and lyrics,
"Blackbird Singing," at his first-ever U.S. book signing in New York
on Monday. McCartney will appear at the Barnes and Noble bookstore on
5th Avenue at Rockefeller Center, and organizers of the event are
preparing for an onslaught of fans. To date, McCartney's first book
of poetry has sold more than 55,000 copies in the U.K. and the U.S.
and is currently being translated into Japanese, French, Spanish,
Italian and German. McCartney said of the event, "I've never before
done an in-store signing of anything in America, so maybe it's about
time. It's very gratifying that people buy your books and albums, so
this is just a little way of saying thank you to them."

Taylor offers limited edition CD sampler

Grammy-winning artist James Taylor, who kicked off his Pull Over
summer tour last week, is offering fans and concertgoers the chance
to acquire a limited edition, three-song sampler that includes a
previously unreleased track. The song "(I've Got To) Stop Thinkin'
'Bout That" was recorded live on May 30, 1998, at New York's Beacon
Theatre, and has never before been released on CD. The sampler also
includes "Song For You Far Away," which is featured on Taylor's
latest release "Greatest Hits Volume 2," as well as a sneak peak at
"Caroline I See You," a new song from the singer-songwriter's
still-untitled forthcoming album, which is slated for release this
fall. The sampler CD can be obtained with the purchase of merchandise
at any of Taylor's Pull Over tour dates, and it can also be used to
receive a $2.00 discount when purchasing Taylor's "Greatest Hits
Volume 2" at any Borders location. The sampler will also be offered
on the Web at yahoo.com. Taylor's tour is set to "pull over" for more
than 50 dates across the U.S. this summer, marking the first time in
nearly three years Taylor has toured with his band.

TOPLESS TONYA HEADED FOR VEGAS ICE?

There are reports that skater Tonya Harding, fresh from having her
measurements augmented, is pushing to star in a nude review -- on ice
-- in Las Vegas. Gossip columnist Neal Travis says that Harding's
handlers have already approached several Big Apple men's clubs about
having her perform, off the ice, at their establishments. All,
according to Travis, have declined to invite her. But the Sun
newspaper in Las Vegas says the concept of a topless ice review,
starring Harding, is being pitched.
