Unfortunately Raymond, wind power has it's own major impact upon the environment (acreage, maintenance roads, and danger to birds)...

And compare the 13,000 wind mills currently churning our 1.5% of California's total power generation, to the 2 nuclear plants (4 total reactors) producing nearly 15%, and we can see where the greatest bang for the buck is.

Furthermore, being relatively complex machines, windmills are more susceptible to mechanical failure, and require more maintenance. In fact, compared to a Nuclear reactor's 40-60 year lifespan, windmills would likely have to be replaced ever 10-15 years.

Furthermore, windmills would be susceptible to generation fluctuations that depend upon weather. And they would also be susceptible to the tornadoes and supercells that often traverse the great plains states..

Other than that... I'm all for them... :0)
