I am puzzled by Sand. First of all, their sales are minute compared to say IFMX or INFA, or even t.DMC or SGNT. Secondly, what is this "hosting" they are talking about in UK? Are they now a service provider instead of a software vendor? Are they an ASP? Those are very different segments of the market than simply writing and selling software. Then finally I have some concerns about their capital structure, and in particular about an equity line of credit that they have. If the stock starts declining at a time they need to access the line, the rate of decline could be exaggerated.

As for the segment, I agree that it will recover. One universal trend in my lifetime is that software keeps getting more and more complicated and sophisticated, and the amount of data collected keeps expanding. I remember when hardware vendors nearly gave software away if you bought the hardware, now the reverse is true. If I had to pick the single segment that is safest going forward I would say software that helps to make sense and gain value from the huge amount of data being collected.
