The data I looked at wasn't upper atmosphere. We're still talking about the troposphere, just not on the surface.

It's well understood that the world's oceans are a moderating influence on the weather. I'd give more credance to sub-surface water temps, as well as above surface troposphere measurements, than surface temps of the last 5-100 years in and near urban areas.

I believe that at some point after the creation/evolution of the world, the overall the earth became adiabatic. That is while there are long term cycles there is a equilibrium in temperature.

Extra ordinary claims require extra ordinary evidence.
