Rear Admiral was sitting on the edge of the table, looking into the huge mixing bowl. Parts of Octopussy's torso were still there.
Rear was able to identify specific anatomical morsels, due to his advanced degree in Marine Biology. He wondered if anybody would do a post-mortem examination of the body. Or, what's left of the body. But, he didn't know anybody who was qualified to do that. "Besides", he thought to himself, "It's obvious what was the cause of death. No autopsy needed.".
He pondered the situation, wondering how it could have gone so bad, so quickly. He gingerly rubbed the mini-stab wound in his neck, now seared shut by the flame of the explosion. He was thankful that it had healed so quickly, but was sad that it cost the life of his companion, Octopussy. He made a note to himself to ask whether there was a Mrs. Octopussy, and to send condolences if so.
Bugs came to out in the lobby. While he was regaining his senses, he sat there on the floor and surveyed the situation in the auditorium. It was almost deserted now. There was a line outside both the Mens and Womens restrooms as people did what they could to clean calamari bits off themselves. There were several people lined up in front of the "Customer Service" window, probably trying to get a refund from this performance. "You did this with children in the audience?", complained one Mother.
Bugs then got up and staggered back into the kitchen.
He glanced at his really slick super-hero watch (the one given to him by PEST Control as a reward for saving Erroll's life that time when .... well, never mind). Bugs realized it was almost time. He didn't want to be late. Especially after what had just happened. He ran over to the sink, used the high-pressure sprayer to wash off the bits of calamari, then pointed to his watch. Everybody knew what that meant.
It was time to return to PEST headquarters for ... |
