GNSL competing on cost with their new bench-top microarrayer:
>>ANN ARBOR, Mich., June 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Genomic Solutions Inc. (Nasdaq: GNSL - news), a leading, worldwide supplier of automated solutions for genomic and proteomic research, announces the introduction of the GeneTAC(TM) RA-1, a high performance, benchtop microarrayer for high throughput gene expression analysis.
George Hutchinson, Genomic Solutions' Global Product Manager for Genomics, notes that the GeneTAC RA-1 provides scientists with a compact, cost- effective, dedicated solution for creating low, medium and high-density microarrays. The instrument is the latest addition to the company's growing GeneTAC Biochip System, a fully integrated suite of automated instruments designed to increase the productivity of genomics researchers while providing maximum flexibility and high-quality data.
``The RA-1 offers solid pin technology that eliminates the common worry about the presence of endogenous materials that causes the failure of arrays in split-pin systems,'' Hutchinson says. ``This microarrayer delivers state-of-the-art performance that makes every run economically viable from the very first slide. The unit's 48 solid titanium pins also provide excellent mechanical and chemical resistance for exceptional pin life.''
The instrument accommodates both Standard English and Metric glass microscope slides. It typically can produce 25,000 to 50,000 spots per hour, ranking the GeneTAC RA-1 among the most efficient and cost-effective gene expression data generating instruments on the market.
``The RA-1 is a dedicated, all-in-one benchtop microarrayer. It's ideal for those who want the very best value coupled with excellent microarraying performance,'' Hutchinson says. ``It has higher specified arraying performance in a much smaller footprint and is about a third less costly than competitive microarrayers.''
The compact system provides a fully enclosed array processing chamber to help prevent sample contamination. An onboard PC workstation frees up benchtop space normally occupied by computer components. It features an ergonomically placed, side-mounted, 15-inch LCD monitor and a drop-down keyboard for maximum operator convenience and comfort. An integral, automated dynamic wash station eliminates tedious manual protocols. It precisely delivers and drains washing solution and air-dries the pins.<<
