I believe the hosting environment they are referring to is a Data Warehouse that they run for customers. Buy outsourcing the operations, customers hope to save the expense of building their own Warehouse and having in house expertise in maintaining it. In a time of conservative IT expenditures, this approach can bring in sales that would otherwise be delayed.

SAND is a small player, which is why I have avoided them in the past. However, while they seem to be having some success, I am not conviced that they will be a long term winner as an independent company. They may make a successful stock pick over the medium term, and as a Canadian stock has the benefit of being elligable for tax free status for me.

Please note that in Canadian RSP (501K) accounts, foreign (non Canadian) content is limited to 30% of assets. So.... I will continue to keep an eye on SAND, but have not yet purchased any for my accounts. Another 'major' contract would encourage me to take a position. Let's see how Q2 earnings play out.
