Carolyn: Reread McGowan's response. (He is the one who wished to revisit reparations today.) In any event, he deserves an attaboy for thinking outside the box on this one. With a little time, I think I can persuade him that instead of this country spending $60 billion for a Star Wars ABM system that will be antiquated by the time it is completed, we can instead take the money and use it to rebuild America's education system and to extend tuition credits for all Americans, but especially the underclass in this country.

In other words, it'll be a form of reparations, but perhaps we'll call it something else, such as an extension of the G.I. Bill, as James suggests.

I think we've got the makings of something here, don't you agree?
