While it doesn't show up yet in neon, the consumer is already starting to pull in his horns. There is plenty of evidence of this at every car lot, truck stop, mall, or classified ad section. Wall Street and the Fed would like us to believe otherwise, but it is simply a fact that the continuing lay-off tidal wave is starting to have an impact.

Every day, the "warnings" get nastier, every week, the insider selling becomes more intensive and every month, even the brutalized government stats crumble, yet the sheep refuse to read the signs and return blindly to the dice tables. Well they dumped several trillion in the last down leg and it will likely be much uglier when this next one gains momentum. I'm going long wool futures contracts in size as sheep are going to be extinct in the near term. (g)
